I hear US internet is much faster than UK in general, especially on uploads.
Would be interesting to get an idea of the truth behind this, so if you can, post your speeds, and if you know, how much this costs you.
My speed is:
This costs me: ~ $61 USD per month. |

I'll have to test mine on Monday after my line gets cleared up. I'm on copper DSL right now with 7meg down and 1.5 up (of course, my line needs to be repaired after the recent rain... I might be getting 1.5 down right now). Fiber should be here in the coming year and I'll probably end up with the 50meg down 10meg up package as I run a few websites. I also don't trust online test sites... I work for the phone company and have test equipment that will test the true speed and not be limited by network hubs and routers. I can connect directly to the central office server modem and get real time speed to my house.
(btw, my 7meg down tested at a 8.1 down when initially installed)
I pay $30 for my DSL but when the FiOS hit here and I upgrade to the 50/10, it'll go up to about $75/month |

| Yeah, I try to test the speed I actually get online, which is always less than advertised. I pay for a line that's 20 meg down but only get about 15-18 down, maximum. And our contention ratio's are much higher - my up speed is only like 750 kilobit (~ 90 kbyte/sec) |
