I have a friend who is a body builder who (due to having so much muscle) weighs quite a lot, and so his Mega's get air bubbles pretty quick, and I was discussing air bubbles in another thread and this comment suprised me:

Slicer wrote:

I knew Kain said his mega's get air bubbles pretty quickly, but I didn't realise slicer was a heavy guy too, so I was wondering:

Who actually is the heaviest heeler?

I guess some people might be self-conscious about weight but I don't think they should be - it's funny how in the world of some fitness fanatics (as an example, body-builders) their aim is sometimes to get as heavy/bulky as possible (by adding pounds and pounds of muscle), which is why they can't use the BMI method for measuring health: I know guys who are my height (about 5 foot 3) and weigh 210 lbs, so according to "BMI" they would be told they are way overweight, but they haven't got an ounce of fat on them, so if you do post your weight nobody can know how much is fat and how much is muscle, and also since it's possible to be heavy and skinny if you're tall, just posting weight (without height) gives no indication of BMI, so please feel free to post, I am genuinely interested in who the heaviest person is who uses Heelys Smile

I know I won't come anywhere near winning this one, but my weight is currently:

121 lbs. (put on a few pounds last week, mmm, chocolate) Very Happy

Actually, I'm a fairly skinny (by American standards...) 155 or so.

It's just that everyone else who wears Megaverts isn't as large as I am (although Kain will probably pass me before long).

I thought I was quite careful to not be offensive, but I guess you can never predict how people will read things on the net? Smile

[To Nex] I did not intend it to be offensive, but of course nobody has to respond if they don't want to Smile [/To Nex]

As I said, even if you do have a high weight it does not mean you are "fat" if that is what you were thinking? In fact most of my friends (being body builders) all tease me because I'm so light - to them "high weight" is desirable - and in many gym's you'll notice that people who weigh more can often lift more weight because they are accustomed to lifting more weight with every step they take - so having some weight behind you can often be an advantage in life, just like being tall or small can, depending on what you are doing. Smile

Personally I don't see how it's any different to the "who has the smallest shoe size" question I posted a while back? - After all, it's just a number, isn't it? Smile

I myself have been technically obese once - a year or so back I was 50% heavier than I am now, and it was all fat, but it doesn't bother me to admit that. It's weird how some things these days have acquired negative connotations due to the stigma society places on them if we let it. I say sod society, people should be happy being whatever they want to be. Smile

But yes, it's just a question, and not compulsory, so I don't think it's worth getting upset about Smile

And the only reason I was asking was I was curious about the lifetime of normal Heelys mega wheels (before they get air bubbles) and wondering how much of a factor weight was, but to ascertain that I first needed data on the amount of force (in this case weight) being applied.

I'm heavy, AND I'm fat. Pretending I'm not would be even more pathetic than the fact that I am. I eat too much and I don't exercise enough. Simple as that. Therefore I posit that I may be the heaviest heeler, even knowing that there are some relatively big heelers out there.

I haven't weighed myself lately, but I've been hovering around 275 pounds for quite a while now.

Beat that. Razz

As for the lifetime of Megas, it seems to partially be a factor of the weight, but primarily how they roll. My son Nikolas, who only got his a few months ago in May, is very light (100 pounds-ish) and has already started getting bubbles in his. Aside from rolling, he has a habit of doing this kind of walk/prop.switch thing using his brakes and wheels at the same time. It's hard to describe, but I'm pretty sure he's stressing his wheels more than just rolling. It took me months of rolling to get bubbles in mine, but I also took it fairly easy. As we all know, there are extreme (EXTREEEM!) heelers on HC that can break a pair in a matter of minutes.

It seems your best bet is to have an extra pair for when you get air bubbles and you need to roll more quietly. Smile Hopefully some day, we'll be able to get Rumble wheels (which seem to take longer to break) and maybe even megaverts.

Dang... I thought I had the title but AMN looks to be the big weiner here. I'm about 240-250 and 6' even. My DonMega's got squeeky/farty long ago but now I just switch in the Rumble-a-rooskies (or the purple sparkle ones from the wife's) and carry on. Neither have gotten 'farty' yet. I also don't heel the hell outta mine. I wear em about a few times a month now and just for an hour or so. (getting old sucks... damn this work thing to hell!!).

Lo is on his 2nd set of Megas in his Torches. He also swaps in BDs on occasion as Ev pretty much never wears his anymore.

I'm 135 and around 3% body fat .. and I'm one of those guys that can wreck ANY pair of mega-wheels in less than 10 minutes.

Its not all about weight. Riding style has a lot to do with it.

Big Mac is like 80lbs .. I think a pair might last an hour, two tops if he's riding them hard.

Mega-Wheels are good for street and around town. They were never designed to survive the paces we put wheels through when we're vert-ing.

Jeeze man, that's a low %! You must eat nothing but veg and fish? Smile

According to the fancy scales at my gym I'm currently 8.6% bodyfat, and that took a LOT of work so I was happy with that, but 3% - man, that's lean Very Happy

I'm a carnivore. I eat anything with high protein. Been like that my whole life.

Prob 60 - 75% meats. And the rest in sugar, veggies and starch.

My doctor looked at my blood work (I have a 1.8 HDL/LDL ratio) and thought I was vegan .. I laughed so hard.
