...Are these officially licensed? Doesn't look like they are. Strange. Not really a knock-off, but...
I'm really curious to know what the specs on these things are. |

yeah someone else showed the website yesterday.
they look cool, and im guessing its in the bearings. so it should be available for all types of wheels. |

Nope......it's outside the bearings. They use regular abec5's |

| @kain, nah it looks like something attached near the spacer, behind the bearing. If you look at the bearing, it looks like the sheilding is removed to allow the light to be seen. |

| "In the bearings"? No way, no how. It's embedded in the urethane. |

I agree with Slicer, BUT, being someone with a fancy for bright, flashy lights I have seen some pretty cool things that are possible
I have seen lights that are rings that flash (I put them in for gauges when I party) which, if you get them small enough, could fit around the axle, and synch right up with the bearing. No one can really argue that the wheel extends the bearing, so you can find the "gauge light" (as I call them) in the correct size to fit around it, and bam, you have a light that can be used on any wheel, any time.
Slicer's way would be better for production... You have to buy 3 wheels for 3 colors, and a set of Normal for your Atomics, and a set of Megas for your Furys
Having a variable light will only cost you 4 parts (one for each side of the wheels) and you can mix and match your colors. But, you are looking at constant cleaning of the ring, as well as an increased chance to break the light.
As Seth once said, that's my $.02 |

Judging by the wallpaper (under the media tab, you can DL the wallpaper and get a closeup on it) and it seems the lights are inside the wheel, but oddly, through the bearings. So its either a shield (as I mentioned) or something imbedded into the wheel itself (as Slicer mentioned) or some custom bearing (as Seth mentioned) which would be kinda odd... we need to get a pair lol |

Mav: I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you put something next to the bearing (between where the bearing and the bearing-holding interior meet), you will effectively extend it, you won't be able to screw your axles all the way down, and your axles might end up being too long for your wheel well. I've had problems like this before trying to use Mega axles in BD wheels.
The place to put something like that would be in the direct middle, as a replacement for the (seriously useless, IMO) spacer.
Of course, since even the interior core of a regular wheel is black...
(I'd also want a nice, fat capacitor for steady light. This epilepsy flashing stuff is for the birds.) |

| Once again... another idea Heelys dropped the ball on!! It baffles me why there are no replacement wheels available. Sure, they have a few replacements on their site, but I haven't seen them for sale ANYWHERE!! (well... save for the pirate ones and the checks). I mean come on... there are people making their own wheels for specific purposes!! Why not cash in on the idea. And why no lights already?!?! Kids love shiny flashing things. I'm curious if there is a patent against making a wheel specifically designed for heelys. |
