Soooooo, finally tryin to put together some video clips..... having ALL KINDS of problems
1) Camera isnt being recognized sometimes by the computer...
2) Camera isnt being recognized sometimes by the program
(were using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3)
3) This is what it says at the top of the program application:
"cant Activate Recorder. Try Resetting Camera"
- Yes weve reset it.... yes weve restarted the computer...
4) Eventually we got the camera to become recognized by the program.... or at least to a certain degree, because we were able to run the video by using the program on the computer. However, when running the record aspect to capture the video from the camera, once stopped to actually capture the clip, it then says, "Capturing Failed. Check settings on the Camera."
- This is a joke...
Anyone out there familiar with Premiere Pro and think they have a suggestion? |

What's the camera?
What's the input device? |

| DejaVu!! I know I've read this before somewhere else. I remember someone saying to use an alternate program to capture the vid from your cam and import dierctly from your harddrive. There was something about Premier that is quirky. Are you using a miniDV? Recording to disk or card or direct cam hard drive?? |

| I can't remember what people were capturing with but I'm sure anything will do. Dazzle maybe ?? Are you using composite (RCA) inputs to rip the vid?? It may be time to invest in a MiniDV cam. That makes vid'ing gravy. Now that everyone is buying HD cams > ED and below miniDVs are gettin CHEEP!! |

Hmm. Not familiar with the camera. Or Firewire. I rip with RCA, but I'm not sure if the RCA connection I use even has actual connections for the audio... (can't get any sound from my rips, ever)
You can always rip with Windows Movie Maker if worse comes to worse. |

As everyone knows - I hate tape.
I record all my videos directy to SD. Saves a ton of time and you can start editing right away.
Blows tape away in my opinion (just ask Bonk).

For everything that we are looking to do.... I believe tape was our best bet.
The versatility of it is way better than running outta space on yer cam and not being able to keep filming unless ya edit right there on the spot....
*shrugs*.... matter of preference I guess.
We looked into memory storage, but I didnt like alot of the things I read. |

2 Gig SD = $40 90 minutes
1 tape = $7 90 minutes
Transfer 2 Gig SD to Computer = 5 minutes
Transfer 1 Tape to Computer = 90 minutes
My time's worth more than $33.
And I reckon so's yours.
