Check this out... a 12 year old boy was struck and killed by a car in MA. They're trying to blame it on the fact that he was wearing Heelys and there's already been talk of a Heely ban in the town.
The article can be foune here: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/7965800/detail.html. (make sure to view the video)
The question I'm asking is this...why are his parents allowing him to wear the Heelys to school in the first place? Don't most schools ban Heelys? |

First of all, condolences to the boy's family. That said, it comes down to the fact that people no longer take personal responsibilty for their actions. Any tragedy must be blamed on someone/something else. It would be too easy to say that this was an unfortunate accident, there would be no one to sue. Lawsiuts are the new American way. If they want to outlaw heelys for this, how about outlawing cars, too? |

You're definitely right about sue-happy people. Massachusetts is the sue capital of the world, that's why we have some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country.
The boy supposedly turned back after retrieving the mail and started crossing the street. It was then that he was struck. |

Some people just don't know how to take responsibility for their actions. Just because he was wearing Heelys at the time doesn't mean that they were the cause of it. |

They need a new headline, then: "Boy without wheels in his shoes fails to dodge car" |

You know what this means...
Implement a sticker on the shoes, stating that suing rights are waived with removal.
It worked for Soap, but no crazy parents travelled to those extremes at that time. |

Even on the shoes that don't have grindplates?
Or was a model with the plate involved in the accident? |
