I can't confirm this, but I just got a mail with a heelys.com return address that says that in response to increasing demand, they've created a new style with Mega wheels and grindplates, from size 12c all the way to Size 13!
Called the Flail Pro O, this new style has "Rumble-style wheels to protect against air bubbles, as well as forward grindplates for a wide variety of new tricks."
Holy crap.. it's what we've been waiting for! |

Need pictures! I hope they look as good as the other styles with the grind plates, and obviously I hope they are comfortable. |

I knew it was fake, my original post said it was an April fools, but I edited it not to ruin the joke. Though, I admit it took me awhile to figure it out. |

Yeah, since my work is pretty quiet these days I'm paid to sit and browse the web, and I like to read tech-news websites but on April 1st it was a total nightmare: sometimes you could not be sure which articles were April fools because some were quite believable, whilst others were more obvious. The worst offender was the front page of Wikipedia on that day: it was so full of crap I just gave up on it for that day. |

1. Tricks, ramps, and going over cracks are much much easier with mega wheels. Overall they are better in like every way.
2. Why do you comment "I can't wait" on a thread that's well over a year old? Especially an April Fools Day thread. |

Only one reason for me, the ability to drop in much, much better bearings. Like bones for instance. Rolling over cracks is not terribly difficult with Fats, and Megas are no huge improvement IMO.
I used and abused my large fats for 5 years straight, went through 2 pairs of Atomics.
SAME wheels though, ABEC 5. Don't know how, but they lasted. The rubber is hard and still grips, and the bearing are as loud as ford ranger with rod knock, but they FLY.
After riding on Megas for a few months now, my opinion is hard to determine. The bearing upgrades are great, the larger wheels can carve a corner at 15-20mph way better than Fats..
Both style wheels have their uses. I still wear my Atomics if I'm just chiling around. |
