Who has one in their own yard, what type, and how much was it? I noticed in a youtube vid that hidude seems to have a proper one (i.e., big one-piece thing rather than two separate quarter pipe ramps) and was wondering if many people here have sorted it?
Since realising how much fun it is to have my own grind rail I've been considering half-pipes, but am not sure whether to go for it yet. |

if you have the means and the desire, why not?
I'd totally build a half-pipe in the back yard for me and my boys except for the means part. We have the space (no need for the playset as seen in my grinding vid) and the desire, but the means are still a little tight. If we're still heeling (I hope we are!) when the means comes back around, I'll probably do it. Even with all the parks in my area, none of them have a simple half-pipe. |

Put the playset on craigslist : will trade one playset for a halfpipe! |

Also there are a fair few half-pipes in my area, most of which I find tolerable to heel on, but none of them are really good for heelys (often the speed is wrong or there are edges that you always catch your wheels on) - so yeah, there's a lot of factors, but basically I was just wondering how common it is to have one that's good for heeling etc. |

ME,
Maybe it's time to start a half-pipe fund! I put money (like $5-$10) aside every couple weeks to buys stuff I really want when I have enough! If you do that then you can eventually get the good quality half-pipe and still buy heelys! |

believe it or not, ask everyone you meet for a penny
No joke...
I randomly walked around and asked people for a single penny to help with my tuition and within a week I already had almost 500 bucks in spare change...
Do the same thing, except for a half pipe fund...
Or write an editorial in the paper...
People getting tired of skaters destroying the town? Pitch in for a new skate park, or a half pipe at the current park...
Colorado is littered with these tiny 1 attraction parks (either a small pipe or a small street segment) because people banded together and got pissed off that there were skaters all over the place... It paid off... You still will run into a skateboarder, but its usually cause he's going some where... Its not half as bad as it used to be...
Either way, instead of making a pipe solely for you right now, try to get the community to pitch in for it... Even by asking for pennies a day, after a few months you should have enough for a general contractor to take the feat...
Another positive is that you aren't blowing money out of your own pocket. If you kids grow up and lose interest you still did something good for the town you live in... |

Mav,
I'm gonna have to try the penny idea! I know I've found nearly $20 in pennies over the last few years. So they do add up fast.... Maybe I could pay for books that way.... |

If everyone you asked gave you a penny, you'd have asked FIFTY THOUSAND TIMES. |

Unless you had some generous people donate nickels, dimes, quarters... I even had a few people give me 10's and 20's |
