Hey, all. I'm just wondering who else has gotten the email from HSL with the link to take a survey to see if you qualify for helping them out with some test/surveys/projects/whatever. I know Deez got one, 'cus he was the first to mention it in the SB, I think on Monday (4/28/08). I then got the email on Tuesday. Here's the text of the message:

Dear Heely's Customer,
We greatly value your opinions. Our records show that you previously registered a pair of Heelys shoes at our website (www.heelys.com). As a registered owner of Heelys shoes, the only shoe with a removable wheel in the heel, you may qualify to participate in some exciting research projects for Heelys. The best part? A cash incentive or a drawing is offered for completing all projects ranging from $5 to $50 per project! If you are interested in the opportunity to partner with Heelys on future research projects, please click the link below to register.

Sincerely,
Heely's Consumer Research Team

Of course, I went and filled it out. The possibility of money, wheels, Heelys... even just the potential to provide feedback to get what we all want (more pro models and plentiful supply of large sizes!) was too much to resist. The initial survey is primarily demographic stuff. How old was I, how many kids did I have and what ages, do they have Heelys, etc.. According to the end of the survey, I "qualify" to participate in their studies, and will be contacted in the next couple weeks if they choose me/my family to participate. I'll definitely post here if I am.
So, anyone else get this email yet? If so, what happened when you filled out the initial survey? |

Looks like we got "chosen". Here's the e-mail I just got.

Congratulations on being selected to participate in our study about Heelys shoes! As promised, here is your link to the actual study, where you and Alex will be participating together.
Please note, while you may have had other children would be available to participate, based on our needs for this study, we will need ONLY Alex to partner with you on this project.
Once you are both ready to get started, simply click on the link below. It will be important for you to be with Alex the whole time, helping give them direction as needed, but letting them come to their own decisions during their portion of the project.
Enjoy the project!

BTW, Alex is 12. My other son, Nikolas, is 8. Logic leads us to believe that they are interested in older kids for this bit of marketplace feedback.
Ok, We just did the survey. It was pretty much what I expected, that being a bunch of pics of shoes asking him/us how we liked them. Unfortunately, they showed SEVERAL wheel-less Heelys. My son was prepared to say he hated them all, but we decided to be fair and at least rate them on their merits as normal shoes. Of course, this further illustrates the fact that Heelys thinks they're a shoe company and not a sporting goods company. HSL my patootie.
The GOOD part is that there were a LOT more wheeled Heelys to rate, and a few had grind plates. They all looked like fats, though, from what I recall. IMHO, some were pretty cool, and some looked like someone puked on a pair of skate shoes.
Anyway, after he rated all the shoes, it asked me how likely I would be to purchase the ones he said he liked for him. Heh.
All in all, not a bad start to the expected series of surveys and "projects" for us. I'll update this thread with any new info as it happens. Also, I welcome anyone else that gets a survey to post here. If you're not an adult with kids, I suggest you get your PARENT to fill out the initial survey if you want to take part in this. |

That's awsome that you got chosen! Too bad they didn't give you a pair for every question you answered.. that would be cool!
btw, How did they get ahold of you email in the first place anyway? |

That would be cool, to be sure, but I certainly didn't expect it. I figure, if it comes down to actually trying something out, it will be wheels or something. They only hinted at giving me money, not shoes.

| No, I didn't buy them from heelys.com. Like any product, the company wants you to "register" with them. This is primarily to get your information to send you ads or sell your info to other companies who want to send you ads. Usually there's a "Product Registration" card that come with the product, and it often says it's for warranty purposes (which is a load of BS, since they always ask for proof of purchase anyway). For Heelys, you can go to their site to register them. I'm pretty sure there's a link right on the home page somewhere. |

Yep... you can do it straight from the Heely's site but you may need your box (didn't ask for a serial number or something?? can't remember).
Me and Kory both got the congrats emails (1 for me/Lo and 1 for her/Ev) but they haven't been home all weekend (at the grand's!! WOO HOO!!). We'll probably fill them out when they get in later today. |

Just took the survey. Was gonna save all the pics but it was done so you had to do a screen capture on every img to save the pic and I just wasn't that motovated (it was all in Java). There were some pretty cool designs >> I like the (H) with the lightning bolt and Lo like the skulls on a few of the designs. Evan was a fan of the flamed models. The grind plate model (yeah.. only 1) was OK, but looked like a washed out Torch with FATS. Logan put ALL the unwheeled models in the basket and said "why don't they have wheels? I don't get it!" Lol. All in all... pretty positive stuff in there except for the lack of MEGA wheels. |

I dont think so. There were alot of camo designs and a few 'military' look (stripe with an eagle type logo) in there... but I don't remember seeing dragons anywhere.
Kinda wish I'da took the time to save all the pics now BUT ... well, I didn't so oh well. |
