So I finally got around to the 1st stage of customizing some heelys (that I've still yet to actually buy). 1st thing you do is the layout and I prefer to do it digitally on PhotoShop so I can see if the end result is going to be worth the work. As alot of you know, I have a very rare/unique VW that I had imported from Germany into the states and it's my pride and joy SO I decided that I would dedicate my 1st set of custom Heely's to my Polo!! I've done a few customs for friends in the past but I've never done any for myself so I figured I'd make these ones keepers. Now keep in mind this is only an approximation of what they will look like and I'm going to color match my car to a T but this is what I have worked out so far....

The car is LidoGreen and is near the main color and the accents are houndstooth design which matches my interior. I'm still undecided if I'm gonna hand paint the houndstooth or have stencils made but that's the jist of what the end result is gonna be. Here's my Polo for reference....

So what'dya think??

BTW > I have a special template made up where I can now easily customize anything on Atomics so if anyone has any special requests they'd like to see... just shoot it to me!!

I used Atomics because they are full leather and all white and look like a classic sneaker. They will be the easiest to customize but any shoe can be customized as long as the leather is paintable. I can also probably do the Playas and the Drives pretty easily.

Nah >> I can custom paint anything though. Or if you have an artistic touch, do a search for Angelus leather paint or try the Sole Collector or Sneaker Freaker forums. They'll teach you everything you need to know.

OK... my Vans are done. Skipped the houndstooth as I've discovered a new way to lay that down and didn't have the time/material BUT I mimiced the black/white weave in the laces so it's all good.

I think the next project is gonna be my torches. I'm 'thinking' of doing a zebra print on them. We'll just have to wait and see.

you know your first model (at the beggining of the post) do you think you could use black and white plaid and like a bright green color. and sell them to me?

I want to do a few for myself before I go mess up someone elses!! Lol. I wanna know how good this stuff holds up, too. I'm gonna mod my Torches and see if the paint cracks at all. Plaid is no prob at all >>> I just have to get ahold of the materials to do it. The plaid part (or houndstooth like I wanted) isn't hand painted but carefully cut out of real material and epoxied onto the panel. I've gotta work with that method a few times so I can get it striaght.
