kk well im writing to my local news station and i wanted to post what i was sending before i actually sent it. So this is what i got:

Hello, my name is Laina Foust, im 14 years old, and I am a resident of Philadelphia Pa.The thing that is bugging me are fake heelys. They go by many different names such as Air Skates, Cruzshuz, or Rock and Roll Shoes. What makes these shoes a lot different and more dangerous from heelys is the button that is located in the back of the shoe. The button is used to make the wheel go in and out. And the wheel on these shoes are plastic like so they could break real easily. And not to mention when you walk with the wheels popped in or out they are very loud! When riding these shoes you can not go over rocks because once you go over some,the wheel can easily jam, making you fall forward toward your face. There are more accidents that occur on these shoes then heelys them self. They are dangerous and if people complain about the dangers of heelys, then they should complain 10x more about these shoes. Most of the complaints about people getting hurt on heelys probably wasn't even heelys! If we could just get these shoes off store shelves and off of stands in malls and such then there would be a lot less complaints and people would begin to say heelys aren't as dangerous as people describe them to be. By writing to Fox 29 I am hoping to spread the word about these fake shoes and hoping that some people will stop buying them and buy heelys instead. Thank you very much for taking your time to read my letter, and it would help a lot if you were able to do a short story on fake heelys and how they are not the answer!

It seems like the media is finally responding to the popularity of hybrid skate-shoes. Its fastly becoming a sport with a large following. As with all sports, accidents will happen. However, there is another dimension to this story that has not been told. This is what bugs me.

Heelys, the original maker of the "wheel-in-the-heel" shoe, is very different from the many imitators that are trying to cash in on the craze. They go by many different names such as Air Skates, Cruzshuz, or Rock and Roll Shoes. The difference between Heelys and the others is very important.

The design of Heelys is such that the wheel is always out until you manually take the wheels out. This may seem less convenient, but it is a much more stable design. Shoes that have buttons require additional mechanics that inevitably fail causing the rider to faulter.

Another major difference is quality. Because Heelys uses premium parts, it is a safer vehicle. Real Heelys always uses high tactile rubber, ABEC rated bearings, and real urathane wheels. Almost all of the imitation version use plastic wheels and don't even have a bearing! Their rubber cannot withstand friction during breaking. They are, without a doubt, less safe.

What parents don't realize is that safety begins with what you put on your feet, not just a helmet or a kneepad. Being an avid Heeler, I would never recommend anything aside from true Heelys to anyone. The risks just aren't worth it.

Fake Heelys STINK! Those people just like to rip people off with those stinking shoes! I HATE it. Anywayzz, I'm gettin' Heelys until August! I know it's lame... I'll just have to wait.. I have the money and all, but my parents won't let me buy them! Anywayzz, Are those "Toeys" real? I gotta know! Rolling Eyes
