I've been needing a way to get around that doesn't kill my legs after tennis practice, so I spent Friday night doing this

Cool!
I want to know everything:
how many watts is the motor, how many Amp-hours the batt, etc
I love home projects/inventions.
And the important thing: wonder how fast you could get it to go?
I've always wanted one of these I used to cycle a LOT! |

I learned all this stuff bc I knew this would come XD
It's a 600 watt brushless hub motor, with 3 SLA 12V 10AH batteries in the bag (in series).
It goes about 30mph (48.3kph) for about 20 miles (32.2 kilometers)
The bike cost $150, the motor, throttle, batteries, bag, controller, and charger came in a kit for $500, and the misc tools and accessories cost about $50 |

WOW. Very Nice!
The time I always feel like I would want one of those most, is to help when you have to go up a LOOONG hill to get home at the end of your long ride, and you know you're already knackered and are gonna end up walking the bike up the hill.
Can it be of help there, making it easy to keep going up the hill, and not slowing as much as it usually would until you have to give in, and get off and push? If so, that's a dream come true hehe: the fitness benefits of a pushbike / pedal-powered bicycle, and the luxury of a motor powered bike when you need it.
And is it possible to use the power of your legs AND the power of your motor, in a high gear going downhill, to get HUGE speeds? I guess that is dangerous so probably best not to try, but imagine if you changed the highest geat for a cog with an even longer gearing ratio - you could go wicked fast hehe. |

The motor's wired to only go a certain speed, but that can be changed lol....
I guess there is no limit as long as you can modify it the right way.....but the faster it goes, the more it drains the battery. I tested it uphill today, and it loses a lot of speed alone. If you pedal AND use the motor, you can go about 25 up pretty steep hills without too much effort. It's like having all wheel drive XD |

| But how well does it deal with abuse, shitty weather, mud, REALLY bumpy rides, and marathon-like distance stretches combining all of the above? |

I got a BMX for all these reasons XD
It takes abuse pretty well, but you can't use any EV in rainy weather...it'll fry all the systems. Bumpy rides work pretty well with it, but I have to adjust the carry rack sometimes when it starts hitting the back tire. I went about 20 miles on it today and it worked great on Fremont's crappy streets XD |

all the kids in my neighborhood have either elteric or gas powered bikes.
kinda kills the point of a bike. the ache when you climb up the stairs the next day, the way your butt bone hurts from the seat after, having to stop every 3 miles cause your legs burn.
*remembering last summer* |

exactly XD
electric bikes are a way to have a makeshift moped, and/or be lazy |
