Would anyoone happen to know how to unlock a new iPhone from at&t so I could put my Cellular One sim card in it? Or does somebody know where I can send it in? Your help would be GREATLY appreciated lol. My aunt gave me her iPhone because she didn't like it, but I need it unlocked.

Its the firmware version. You can probably download a patch from the internet somewhere, but I wouldn't try it. Flashing the firmware is like flashing the BIOS on a computer; you can do some catastophic damage if you don't do it right

firmware: means the most important vital programs built into your iphone, which tell it stuff like how to turn on, so don't mess with them unless you know what you're doing or it won't even do that any more, that is, it won't even power up without like, dying forever (then again, considering it's another overpriced overpopular must-have-but-don't-really-need apple gizmo, that probably wouldn't be such a bad thing) Razz

Download a patch: in this case means get something off the net that will change your iPhone firmware, which:

a) if done right could unlock it to do what you want (work on other cellular networks)

b) if done wrong could turn it into a very high-tech doorstop. Smile

Well I have an Iphone that is unlocked. But do you mean Iphone (Normal) Or the Iphone 3g?

If its the normal one it is really easy to do aslong as its one of the newer versions such as 1.1.4 (DONT DO 2.0 IT SUCKS AND WASTES UR BATTERY FASTER)

I would post what to do but that would take alot of typing and im tired so go to this site:

First find out your version: At Iphone home screen (one with the icons) choose settings then click General<-About and look for the peice that says:

Version (Version goes here) (Numbers and letters)

Ill use an example on mine it says:

Version 1.1.4 (4A102)

Go to www.Ziphone.org It should give a clearer explanation and that is where you get the program to unlock it. IF U DONT UNDERSTAND IT GOOD DONT TRY IT TO AVOID DAMAGE. Do anything at your own risk.

And make sure u check the version and find out what to do because some versions have different procedures than others.

Lol, well thanks guys but that's too complicated for a phone lol. Im just going to buy a new unlocked blackberry pearl 8120 from ebay. Ill ask my smart nerdy cousin to unlock it if he can. Thanks though but i am just not smart in unlocking phones.

Actually when I first got my phone there was a risk of messing it up. Now the risk is very low. If you brick it then you restore. If you freeze it then you restore , If you smash it you got a warranty Very Happy

Once its 1.1.4 Its very easy you just install the program Ziphone then run the automaticunlock or the other one thats name was something to do with all or every. Then It takes 4 mins and thats it, it should be unlocked. But of course if you rather not take risks then your right simply buy another phone.
