I'm considering buying some new elbow/wrist/knee protection, and am looking for advice on which would be the coolest to wear - no I don't mean "cool" as "Wow, that's cool man!" I mean cool as in the opposite of warm. You see, I have some pads but I find my self not wanting to wear them because they make me too hot when i skate hard.
So, recommendations please for cool (low-heat) pads please? Armadillo, Salomon? |

i don't really know how you're going to get much protection if your going for cool pads. pads that give good protection are usually larger or wrap around your whole limb. salomons are really nice, though. they're small but still give lots of protection. when i went to new york this past week, i popped my salomon in another place (i first popped it back in july) and was able to just stick the gel back inside and it still provides lots of protection because i fell hard a few more times and the gel gooed out but i didn't get any damage to my hands.
i'm still tired, so i dont know if that made any sense. sorryy. |

| id recomend looking around at pro-tecs stuff, armadillos are a full wrap so theres little ventilation and pro-tec offers ones where its just a strap and stuffage |

I wear Pro-Tec and my pads are really nice. They are full wrap with straps but the padding absorbs the sweat (i know, gross)
I skate daily with the weather being upwards 90 (and at 3500 feet in the air, we are really close to the sun) and I don't notice the sweat too bad
The entire set cost me 130 usd |

I like armadillos because they're cute .. like FATs.
No .. my opinions is that they're a LOT less bulky. You can EASILY wear them under loose jeans, and they would be unnoticeable. Additional, they offer a lot more flexibility.
The only problem is that they aren't readily available in the USA. They're made in the UK .. and .. you're .. in .. the UK ..

Cool - I'll see about getting me some Armadillo's then, thanks So far cheapest I've found the elbow ones for is £15 (about $28 US).

| Update: I got some nice new Armadillo Elbow Guards for £15 (about $27 US) and am now on the lookout for some Gel Sliders |
