Not to get too off topic, but I'm going to be in CO the last weekend in October... Denver specifically. Estes Park even more specifically. I probably have time on Sunday to meet people if anyone's around... Thursday might have time too, but I don't know the schedule of the leadership training I'm attending yet.

IDK if this is still in discussion of where/when it will be, but I was thinking of posting some sites/pics of some decent Colorado Parks, just cause I support my local skate scene
With enough planning I am down for going pretty much anywhere with sufficient evidence that its not going to suck because there is no where to skate...
With that stated, here I go:
Denver, CO:
Denver Skatepark
Auroa Wheel Park
Elyria Johnson Skatepark
Green Valley Ranch Skatepark
Greenway Skatepark
Woodward Skatepark
Colorado Springs, CO (1.5 hours away from Denver):
John L. Stone Skatepark
Gossage Skate Park
These are the parks I can find direct links to, but there are dozens more, but they are pretty skate style specific with not too much to offer (like the parks I show in my movies, they aren't all that large, 500 sq ft tops)
I haven't been to the parks listed above in Denver but the Woodward one, and that was when I used to inline.
I know that one allows Heelys there because thats where AJ skates...
As you can tell from the pics, the Denver parks are a lot larger then the Colorado Springs parks, but if the Gathering is going to happen here, then I thought I would include some just for the giggles in case the world get bored...
A good time to skate is May - Mid July, though the parks are litterred with skaters, the weather isn't too hot (roughly around 80's - 90's mid day). The down fall is there aren't many indoor parks around here (with Woodward being the only close by open indoor park since Vans was shut down a couple years back)
By any means am I not saying lets have it here, but I thought I would jump start to get other people down for posting pics of local parks so better planning can be devised...
Also, I am going to peg my vote in right now to have a West Coast gathering (if it comes down to regions and Colorado is severely voted out) since A.) I loathe humidity and B.) I like California (San Diego w00t w00t)
A West Coast gathering could also lead to a day on the beach or whatnot and a nice little vacation for your parents...
So don't leave me hanging. Post parks where YOU want to skate so we can vote in a timely manner...

Let me put it this way...
This Site will be your best friend at finding skateparks around you...
Look it up, post the links, that way we can all decide... If its in a place that there are only a couple parks that are 4,000 sq ft MAX that have nothing but flatland, a couple of kickers, and thats about it, then of course its not going to be appealing...
Everyone has to travel to get to the good spots... We just need to find the spots and organize the travel date |

Wherever the HCG is next year, I'll have to know when before I can commit.
As for Colorado in October... I will be there, but I'm trying to figure out timing on stuff. |

When its all snowy??? lol Actually, last December I got some pretty good skating in on isolated ramps...
The cool thing about the snow is you can take the wheels out, wear a warm jacket, and practice grinding in the snow....
And snowball fights... but thats a given lol

Word, if you're ever in the area let me know; I can direct your family to some pretty nice hotels and we can get some sick skating in... |

LOL, not November, or any other time during the school year.
I'm still thinkin' Texas- assuming that we still have the people for it.
The Pacific Northwest is looking good, too, though...
Hrm. People move around a lot, become less active, a large group comes from nowhere, etc, etc. The wisdom of scheduling something like this THIS FAR in advance is starting to become doubtful... |
