Some friends and I were talking about that, and it would probably have to stick with a strictly aggressive skate model, which would kinda go against what HSL originally planned for Heelys. For walking though, your foot would have to be kinked at a 45º angle of some sort to bypass the rolling, buuut there would be more stability when rolling. The vertical grind plate would be a cool idea if it wasn't for two things
A. The wheel at the back
B. Hard Braking/Walking
As it is already when I would wear my rails, I would slide around a bit walking on waxed floors, and I could see myself now just sliding around with an added grind plate at the toe. Stopping with the Hard Brake as well would cause additional sliding, as well as unnecessary wear and tear on the plate. The wheel in the back would also pose a problem with the stability of the grind, only being able to balance on your toe. -shrugs- In my opinion, I think they have pretty much have the design of the shoe at the best its going to be, and now work on wheel variation, placement, and size. |
Yea, my thinking on that is, if you weere to place your foot parallel to the rail, the wheel in the back would allot for something that resembled a "rolled grind", as for the hard breaking, i'm not sure if you noticed, but when i do a hard brake, i tend to feel more pressure towards my big toe, so if the grind plate was not on the exact spot of where my toes is, it should not have that much of an effect on the hard break,
my idea would also advacate on how heelys is a hybred shoe, it's a hybred shoe as in you can change it to either a skate, or a shoe...what about some tricks where you use both component's in 1 trick...something along the line's of freerunning + that wheel in the back/grind plate somewhere else, all in 1 trick w/o shifting from "wheel, to foot, to trick, back to wheel" |

That's probably never going to happen. It'd be cool, but you can't land freerunning tricks on your wheels or jump very high off of them. That's the only problem with heelys, there's only one wheel in the back, so if you bend your knees to jump/absorb shock, your toes go down and you fall |

That's the good part about it, the most freerunning tricks require you to land on your toes, which would not have to do with the wheel in the heel. |

Yeah....that's why combining parkour with heeling has been a popular concept |

If you reverse the insertion of wheels, you would get true TOEYS!!!
That is reason enough for Heelys to do this... |

The only issue I see with cross pollinating Parkour and Heeling is the issue like Kain pointed out earlier. Its very difficult to roll and absorb shock on heelys. You have to land on your toes and roll forward, but the issue is getting back up. Once you're stable, skating away would add some kick ass style points, but you need your heel for the raising, which is my difficulty. Second most, when you run, sometimes you need to be able to get enough speed for the jump, in which, again to knock down heelys, you can't get that very well and remain stable. Also, what about grip? Wall running is a crucial aspect of parkour and you need you're full foot for grip, and having a wheel at the bottom kinda defies that purpose. Listen guys, I'm all down for doing some new tricks on some new areas, but I don't think it would be thee safest nor smartest thing to do, crossing two different extreme sports |

yeah, I've thought about that. Absorbing shock is a problem. I jumped off a 4 foot roof onto concrete with heelys and landed on my feet. Felt like I needed surgery on my ankles XD. When you wall run/climb, you only use the grip near your toes, but most of our heelys are so worn down from powersliding. Getting a lot of speed to go up to a wall and climb it or something wouldn't be a problem lol. But I think the ppl that want to combine soap shoes and parkour have a better chance than combining heelys and parkour. |

thats why i dont powerslide, only on vert to get distance to jump in. other then that, never powerslide because that meses up the grip and makes it harder to run back up ramps and walk on some surfaces. |

i think you guys are reading waaay too much into this. All these new mods, extended grindplates, plastic on the sides, more wheels, this, that, blah, blah...
1. How retarded would the shoe look with all this extra shit on it?
2. Do you even know how expensive it would make the shoe to buy once produced?
Honestly, im just happy heeling around in my Macks all day. I don't exactly have plans to make Heelys the next "extreme sport". Because even i can say theres nothing "extreme" about it. But if you guys really wanna do the imposible, why not just blade in your spare time? I do... |

Hey partner, a lot of us came from other extreme sports. Most of us still inline or skateboard.
We like to talk about things like this for ideas, or even conversation. Who cares if we're reading too far into it or not far enough, its a topic of conversation. And if they did make new wheel placements, longer/new plates, etc. then thats on them
And then you come in talking about still using Macks. Macks were probably the most controversial model that HSL released until the Gamers.
Also, you can feel that there is nothing "extreme" about it, but thats how you perceive it as. Look around you, or even throughout the forums buddy, this is an evolving sport. If you like to just roll around thats fine, but there are people who take it up to the next level.
If you want to talk about expenses then lets talk about it. The shoes that come out are already being priced between $60 - $100 per the model, and looking for older models, you can get prices that soar above that. A pair of inlines, even looking at K2, Roces, or even Salomon, you're looking at the close $200 mark and rising, pending on what model you get.
For the bulkiness, if you're an inliner, then you should know that skates aren't the sexiest thing on the planet either. And we don't care do we? If what we talked about did hit the production line, then they may be skatepark only shoes. Again, looking back at the Macks that you roll with, those aren't the most compact shoe design.
So partner, before you start talking about crap that you "feel" should be the truth, and before you come into a forum that basically feeds off the adrenaline of the sport, I would watch what you say, because a good 90% of this forum feel that heeling will be the next extreme sport... I do... |

Partner? Nigga, you dont know me, dont call me your partner, iight?
And i didnt say this to become such a controversial subject. I got macks, yea so what? Look a lot better than the shit they're pulling out of their ass now.
And you wanna talk about $200 inlines? Ok "partner", when your inlines get fucked up, you buy new wheels, sole plates, spacers, and all types of shit right?
When your Heelys get fucked up, what do you do? Get new wheels...Because you cant do nothing else. You think im trying to fucking bag on heelying, but im not. I'm just trying to keep retarded ideas from HSL's head. Because they make a lot of stupid mistakes. And even that you cant deny.
The Gamer- Because kids like to play videos games?
Discontinuing soapshoes- Why? Because theres no wheel in them?
Come on, get real. If HSL were to make a Heely with all this kinds of crazy shit on it, noone would fuckin buy it, and that would just be worse for HSL.
Oh, and i dont think HSL is in ANY situation to be fucking up with money. Look at their current financial status "partner" |
