Okay. Let's say you just got your first pair of Heelys about a week ago. You can go forwards, and not much else. Let's also say you have a good concrete skatepark, one with plenty of bowls and drops. Ready?

First, learn how to carve a bowl. This isn't terribly hard. You just go up the side of the bowl, and then turn and go around the bowl at an angle. This might take a lot of practice for someone who just started with Heelys, but it's suitable for your skill level.

Okay, you can carve now? Cool. Now, make your carves higher and tighter. Instead of carving the whole bowl, carve a piece of it, getting up as high as you dare and making a sharp turn downwards. Things can get scary about now, but it's not as dangerous as just dropping in. Keep practicing. Get Megas and a good running start, and get up as high as you can.

Starting to approach the lip of the bowl? Well, you're almost dropping in already! All you need to do now is just finish it. The first time is scary as hell and you're likely to hesitate a lot. Drop in at the wussiest place you can find on the bowl. Then when you realize "Wow, that was the wussiest place on the bowl", drop in on progressively higher and steeper parts of it.

Then, on to halfpipes. And once you get good at THAT, you're starting to approach Merlyn territory...

Maybe I'll disregard the rules at the local skate park...

There was no bowl at the skatepark we went to today. It was a wood skatepark with a nice halfpipe. I got footage, so I'll compile it into a video then post it. Very Happy

I never go to skateparks. I build my own stuff, and I jump stuff in my (VERY SUBURBAN) neighborhood.

um halfpipes are merlyn territory ^^
a halfpipe is everything over 12 feet. then there is vert. witch means that the ramp kinda points to the center of the ramp. this prevents you from flying over the deck when you do high airs Wink
so i guess vert is merlyn territory Wink but i wanna see some airs on vert Wink

oh yea and here is a video on "how" to drop-in http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/19/663912/drop-in%20right.wmv

what iv'e noticed alot. ppl that are learning to drop in stand and the coping for EVER and are just thinking and thnking....and that's what your not supposed to do. you have to know what to do, get up on that ramp and just do it. dont think, thinking baaaad
just do it...if it doesnt work just try it again i WILL work!

Pin, I think you mean "over-vert". Vert is 90 degrees. "Over-vert" is more than 90 degrees and pointing back into the pipe.

I had an over-vert built so I can practice. I can almost hit the coping 4 feet into the oververt. And I can air on real vert.

Blue tape, baby.
