So, I kinda tried learning to go backwards by pushing off a wall but that didn't really work that well for me cause it messed with my center of gravity too much.
But today I found a way of practicing backwards that does work for me, so I thought I'd share it:
Find a very slight slope, stand with your back to it, get into heeling position and lift your toes. Also spread your arms out for balance.
Also I found that it is easier for me to do this if my legs are further apart (like back and forward, not side-to-side)

Yep - I can see how that would work too.

Thanks for sharing!!

the best way to ride backwards is to get some speed going foreward, then do a 180 and ride backwards

this is how i learnd to go fakie:

try a 180, stop. which foot is in the front? (example: left)

now stand side to side and put your right foot back (apart to the left) and push yourself backwards (with the left) while lifting your toes

Also, make sure you are riding with an opposite foot stance than you usually ride forward. That's the easiest way to keep your balance going backwards.
