Hi everyone! ive just recently started getting interested in heelys and have done some research and found that i really want a pair of evolutions. Does anyone know where i can get some in size 9? cant find them anywhere. Also what are other good heelys besides the evolutions that are easier to find? |

Evolutions have been discontinued, so unless you can find them on ebay you're out of luck there! The new Pro Series would be the closest shoe that is currently being made. Torches are also similar, but recently discontinued. I would say, either search ebay, or get Pro Series. |

Size 9 torches:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170322502868
Torches are like evo's, but the harder wheels are faster and they're better ventilated (more breathable, less sweaty). The softer 2-tyre evo wheels have a slight advantage on rough streets but that's about it.
Although I hope you've added on at least one size for the tightness of older heelys? If you're usually a 9 you may need a 10 and if you're growing best to go for an 11 (rarer).
This model on the other hand is true to size:

Wheels on these are even better than the torches (slightly harder, less noisy, although best to swap out the bearings). The bay positioning is slightly more forward and there's no grindplate but beginners don't usually need one rightaway. Rumbles have a lot of ankle support so a little flexibillity is lost but no biggie, you can get used to it once they're broken in. Better winter shoes too: warmer, better snow/ice grip. Only a few hours to go on those tho so snap em up if you want em.
Just spend a couple hours searching for ya so I hope ya like em.
Ninja's rule too:

And you can get the Pro Series from that same website if you do really need grindplates. |

I dont have any but ninjas look freakin comftorable
Oh forgot to reply to the question. I have torches (9116) and i think they are really comftorable. If it was just a regular shoe i would still buy it, and it looks good to. |

To my knowledge, Evos only came with Big Dueces. That is the only hybrid shoe I have are evos and none of them came with Megas
And then in reply to the actual thread, it depends on the type of shoe you want. Like WC said, eBay is the best place to start.
However, if you just want a shoe that you can grind, then a shoe you can wear where ever, Finish Line always has some Atomics available, and Journeys likes having sales on their Heelys.
Just keep an eye open, but eBay will be your best bet, trust me, I wear a size 12 D: |

@ME, torch had more material on the toe and the evolution had more mesh. I always felt the evolution more ventilated.
@Obi, Big deuce dont get airbubbles they kinda just fall apart. |

There is one seller on ebay who sells evos with regular mega wheels sometimes. |

I always felt the evolution more ventilated. | *looks* I see what you mean - torch and evo's have different areas of ventilation - such strange shapes tho it's hard to tell which one has more square inches of mesh, and even then I suppose which one was "better ventilated" would depend on where your foot needed the most venilation.
Granted Evo's have more mesh (better ventilation) at the toe end, although my feet tend to get hotter at the mid-foot - if I skate hard on a hot day in some socks the areas where my foot was hottest can clearly be seen by the areas of perspiration (I know, TMI LOL) - so for me the mid-foot where torch has more mesh is the area that needs the most cooling, so yeah I guess it probably depends on the wearer a bit. For you it's Evo's, for me I think (so far) torches, but I may change my mind in future.
Also there's the minor difference in the shape/height of the ankle surround between torches and evo's: it feels to me like torches give slightly less ankle support, and slightly more flexibility, but again I guess that would depend on your foot and ankle.
It's a pretty close thing tho, I guess we should just say - choose whichever you prefer and [/end heelys geek mode] |
