I have a couple of pop-culture questions that the younger generation is more likely to know the answer to than older guys like me. Smile

When looking at Heelys I keep seeing these shirts advertised on BeWild.com.

On most of the descriptions it says:

"Xzavier DA GRIND is a clothing company about just that: grinding."

And yet they don't seem to feature anything about grinding in the sense that we use it: no mention of any trick names, or of skating or ledges or rails. So I was wondering:

1) Are they actually talking about the "soap-shoes/heelys" kind of grinding, or are they using "grinding" in some other sense?

2) If they are talking about the heelys/aggressive skating kind of grinding: They say their designs are hip-hop/hardcore inspired. . . is the act of grinding as we know it generally thought of as being associated with any particular musical subculture, in the same way that high fantasy literature is associated with Heavy Metal for instance?

DA GRIND is his last name or the name he uses to sign clothes and stuff.

Here in my area grind is used for metal music and also used to describe a type of dancing associated with hiphop music and reegaeton.

Seth pretty much nailed it to a point...

The style of clothing (as always) switches. This year it just happens to be hand drawn style shirts in a near grafitti style. Being symetrical was out the door in 2005 and the new designers have taken advantage of it...

But yeah, it has nothing to do with grinding...
