Okay, yes, HSL is boiling in its own venom and Merlyn's leaving.
That's no excuse for the complete lack, dare I say dearth of videos on this board.
Whether it's in an inch of snow or in a skatepark, post your vids! |

Broken camcorder is broken.
And I'd have to film things like snow tracks, the snowed-over skatepark, the snow in front of my door... (I'm detecting a theme here) |

Just curious: how do you differentiate between flatland and street? |

I could be wrong, but I think the difference is flatland can be anything kept on the floor. like can openers, crabwalks, 360's etc. whereas street has more grinding benches, jumping curbs, skating down big ol' hills etc.
peace! |

Flatland = Tech skating (doing the pretty spins and stuff)
Vert = Halfpipe stuff, things that make you go "vert"ical
Street = Heaven lol
Basically, street is a combination of both Flatland and Vert. You can throw a couple of quarter pipes in there with a nice flat manual pad but street is going to be more focused on grinds and linking together tricks to make them sexy... |

Slicer wrote: | Whether it's in an inch of snow or in a skatepark, post your vids! | When I looked out the window this morning it was all white, so expecting slippiness and falls I quickly slapped on some discreet pads and went running out to make some trails which I thought would make a nice vid, only to discover the snow had frozen solid into like an inch of Ice. . . you jump to roll, your heels dig in, and you just stand there going nowhere. So, sadly not worth showing a vid of.
However, some new Heelys arrived in the post today, but they only cost £9 delivered so I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. I wouldn't normally post such a thing, but since you asked for vids no matter what:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F49PV8eG4pk
(apologies in advance to anyone who owns and loves this style of Heelys. . . the comments were an initial reaction mainly to the laces, and having not worn them yet, for all I know I may grow to love them...)
EDIT (Later that day)
==============
Actually, after removing the extra-fat off-white laces, and the slow ABEC-1's...
And sticking in some well-lubed Bones Reds...
These are actually not too bad. True to size, and plain and comfortable enough to make a decent pair of work shoes:

thin laces with skateboard style heelys= ewww
haha jk to each his own but that was why they put the fat laces because they go together, the fat laces are usually meant to be tied the horizontal way (like ladders)
also atomic 7146 |

Yeah, I don't mind the fat lace style. . . it's just the color of the original laces I don't like: *beige* it's like white, but looks dirty/rained on before I've even worn them, but yeah that's just personal opinion and if someone else likes it that way then as you say, to each his own.
I might stick some different colored fat heelys laces in at some point (am thinking black/red), but for now I like em as they are. I'm definitely the kinda person who does things his own way, and doesn't usually think it matters what is fashionable.
I often like the way bar/ladder lacing looks because it shows off the patterns on flat laces, but I hate the way it's harder to loosen/tighten without the visible flat bits getting twisted over... And I like my Heelys really firmly tied, and with the ladder lacing style, because it's harder to pull the laces through tight, if not tight it sometimes seems to cause the foot to slip around inside the shoe when tricking.
Of course it is possible to get bar-lacing on neat and tight. . . it just takes more care and patience than I've got when putting 'em on. |
