Hey all,

I'm trying to learn to heel backwards, I've been watching videos of it, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how they learned to heel backwards.

Thanks!

make sure your completely centered on the wheels and push off a wall, you might start turnning to the sides but tahts because your leaning on one side more then the other, try to stay cnetered and have patience it takes a while.

I learned to do it by accident kinda. When practicing 180's, go ahead and put the front of your foot down after completing the 180, but try to put it down lightly and powerslide out of the 180. Once you're comfortable powersliding, you should find it easier to just lift up your toes all the way and you'll be going backwards. =D

If you don't know what powerslide is, here:

I kinda learned it from watching the vids of Merlyn on the half pipe. Usually I just stay still, and then kick off with my lead foot, bringing my trail foot up. I usually go for a couple feet with the initial shove, but thats just to keep the balance. When it comes down to it, I only go backwards for a short time before reverting back to the forward position.

Wow, you guys took it so technical. Me? i just kept going down the street, making a fool of myself trying to heel backwards.

Keeping your domonite foot forward, relaxed but locked, it will help.

But thats just me Razz

Try going forward then push off a wall and go backwards. It helped me when I was learning. Or try just keeping your feet up then have someone slowly push you backwards.
