Okay, this one is weird.
I have a forced-air heating system and left my Heelys in front of it, with the plates next to the heater, to dry out.
The grindplates are no longer nearly as scratched, but have a uniform, sorta-rough surface instead. I didn't realize the material would reform like that. I'm wondering if this is a good or bad thing... |

yes nylon does melt. i'm no chemical/materials engineer but i suggest you be careful with "overheating" your plates |

Well, after a good practice session today I can say that my plates are A-OK. Maybe better than they were before.
You actually might want to try this if your plates are seriously scratched up. Don't make the plates too hot or you really will end up with a puddle on the floor (or worse, a fire), but if you soften and smooth down the plastic (warning: you're making it hot, so it'll be hot), you might be able to repair some of the damage. |
