It's no secret that Heelys is dead. The brand is basically gone; the company pretty much ran itself into the ground (surprise, surprise) while the CEO barricaded himself in his office. Mike Staffaroni, do I ever miss you.
Sequential Brands Group finished buying out Heelys on January 25 of this year. The rights to produce Heelys now belong to BBC International LLC, a global footwear manufacturing company that produces footwear branded with Ralph Lauren, Guess, Airwalk... and Disney.
Let's be clear: The people with the license to produce Disney footwear now own the exclusive license to produce Heelys. If Robert Campbell, a man with ~40 years of experience doing this, can't make money off that...
Just remember us bigger-footed people while you're making cash hand over fist from the kiddies, aight? |
