Haha, that makes sense yeah.

The automatic driveshafts and hubs are different than the manual version.

Different length, and spline count. But that's it, so just the axles and hubs need to be swapped.

Done!

Took about 3 days to drop the automatic trans and all the automatic crap that comes with it, bolt up the flywheel and clutch kit, manual trans, axles..blah blah blah. But now it's moving, shifting, boosting. Lots of small stuff to fix.

Pics here:

Not bad for a $500 car.

Soon to be 250hp 300+ft/lbs

Haha thanks, but the auto seat belts are long gone, a lot has been swapped in/out.

The dent was from the previous owner, who knows what he did to it lol.

The ECU doesn't control the automatic trans, there's actually a separate unit bolted above the brake pedal.

So far:

Removed:
-Automatic transmission
-Front hubs with axles
-Automatic shifter, and brake pedal assembly

Installed (from the silver 1989 Mazda MX-6 DX-T:
-Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate
-Manual transmission
-Manual hubs and axles
-Clutch pedal/brake pedal assembly
-Manual shifter
-Shifter linkage

Taken from MX-6 and put on 626GT:
-Cylinder head with dual valve springs
-Intake manifold with thermal spacers and automatic throttlebody
-HKS SSQBOV
-Sway bar endlinks, front and back
-Rear swaybar (18mm)
-Front strut tower bar, rear strut tower bar, lower tie bar
-Ground Control coilovers
-Walbro 190 fuel pump
-MSD spark plug wires with boot protectors
-MSD Blaster 2 coil, replaced factory 'E-Coil'
-Front seats, with 4 point racing harnesses
-Autometer vacuum/boost gauge
-HKS turbo timer

Still waiting on a chipped ECU (should come tomorrow), and a completely custom O2 housing

Haha! Yeah that swept through the mazda626 forum like a wildfire.

I kinda liked it for its crazy look. I also hate the 1993 and after 626s anyway, so I see it as an improvement.

Yeah it's pretty big haha usually not a lot of news about old cars. Is the majority of your forum liking or hating this 626?
