Well what do you know, there's a forum for heelys. Lmao, AWESOME!
I've been heelying since about 2006, when I was working at Mervyns and they first came out in our store, I instantly got a pair (Atomic, 7145), and wore them every day at work.
Customers would comment, I would sell more heelys. Hah, it was great.
School and back, inside stores, everywhere.
Using common sense and proper street/indoor etiquette, one can heely almost anywhere, and save huge amounts of time.
As of a few months ago, *when i learned about the mega wheel, and the availability of swapping bearings), I have become a collector/enthusiast.
I stumbled across a pair of #9102's megas and picked them up for cheap.
Dropped $55 on a set of 'Bones Super Swiss 6' bearings, and logged my top downhill speed at over 20mph in the first week of owning them.
Soon after, I found a grindplate pair #9151, but sadly they did not have the mega wheel, but still had virgin ABEC7's.
I'm 22 years old, heely every damn day, hit the trails at night, and convert everyone I can to the shoes with the wheels in the heels.
One of my closest friends picked up the same pair as me (the 9102s) and we tear up the bike trails and haul ass down insane hills.
I've had my share of falls, some pretty bad, some pretty embarrassing. Iv'e since picked up a legit pair of wrist guards, and almost always wear my M65 double knee army pants.
Sorry for the long gush, but in conclusion, I'm glad the heely world is not dead yet, although I'm disgusted by the latest styles, and how many tools are quick to yell out "FAG" when they see someone heelying.
When me and my buddy fly down a hill with the back wheel coming out wide around a crazy curve, most people look at us like crazy lunatics.
I love it.
Heel till I die fools.
