It's an outdoor rink, and it was 98 degrees (F) outside. There was no ice! They only operate as an ice rink in the winter. They SHOULD open it as a roller rink in the summer, but they don't to protect the concrete floor. It's covered and marginally cooler, so they let us use it for the karate test.

Ah ok - I didn't know you had those - the only one I've seen is the indoor ice centre thing here in Nottingham where the UK's ice-skaters train etc. Smile I like ice-skating too but I'm not very good at it yet, and they charge a lot just to use their ice, and the roads/shops are free to heel on so I just heel. Very Happy

The area I live in is really rural. We're a series of small farming communities (and a university). It's not unusual for the closer communities to share stuff like a pool or an outdoor ice-rink. The town I'm in has a pool, and the town 15 minutes away has an outdoor ice-rink. We provide summer entertainment, they provide winter! It's too expensive for small towns to operate the ice-rink all year. Oh and there was a kid in the goodwill on a pair of heelys yesterday! I don't know what model, but he was skating backwards.

Little dude in wal mart. He looked about 7 or 8.

He had a good stance, and was only heeling forward beside his dad.

Saw 2 guys at the Florida Waterford Fair. both looked 10-11 and wore either hurricanes or cyclones. Also saw a pair of Glimmer's in the iceskating rink. they belonged to a girl that had to be 5-6, because the heelys were so small!
