Wow seth, that's gotta be a record heely-spotting for a single trip (except of course for HC gatherings and such LOL) - I take it Heelys are REALLY popular in Florida then. |

I saw a dude with Heelys today, he was 24. I was going to the Hookah Lounge and he had a pair of Playas. I commented on them because I haven't seen them before this, and I didn't even know they were heelys until I saw him do the feet shuffle thing (yeah, you all know what I'm talking about).
So I was pretty excited, and I may be getting him into doing it aggressively. So hooray for me, I may have someone to actually skate with! |

Little girl maybe 7 in white and pink heelys with pink wheels. At costco. She was hanging onto the cart and letting her dad push her with it. Her eyes got really big when my friend and I heeled past her!

It's a Fair in the university's parking area (all concrete) near a mall and 5 minutes away from the airport. Miami. Tourist central USA. You can see alot more in Disney during the summer months though thats for sure. |

This kid at my school, 17, just got a pair of the skate shoe ones, without wheels. They are white with a big green X on the tounge and have a plethora of green and white designs on the corner. not exactialy sure what the model is called though. |

I didnt accualy "spot" any persay. I was at this "workshop" for work in a room at one of thoes plades with go carts mini gold arcade bumperboats ect. In the next room there was a party and for the longest time i heard the clicking of the wheels on the floor. And the kid said it was hard to walk with a wheel in his shoe. So it wasnt hard to figure out what he was talking about. |

I saw 3 pairs at the karate test this weekend. One was on my friend Rubberducky (he never come on here anymore...). One girl, about 9 had a pair of pink ones on with the plugs in (we tested outside so most of the kids were wearing shoes in the test), and one little boy heeling around the icerink we tested on after the test was over. He's probably 7 and he was pretty good. It didn't wear mine 'cause Sensei would have killed me for setting a "poor example".

Aww, do it! You know you want to!
I was at Sherwood Forest the other day and saw some girl wearing the black 7229 glitters - quite rare around these parts. She didn't have her wheels in but then neither did I - It was a forest - they'd just get crapped up. |

I DID want to heel. The ice rink would have been a good place. Super smooth, uncracked concrete with nice side barriers! But, unfortunately there was an 'ice skates only' sign. And I am a black belt, so at the tests I do have to set an example. Unfortunately that means no heeling. I already got chewed out by the sensei running the tests when I was a brown belt for heeling in the school gym we were in. There aren't many places I will keep going to that I can't heel, but karate is too important to me.

Fair enough. I understand
I used to heel at a dance studio where I had one of my weight-lifting classes: it was like one of those ballet places, so it not only had perfect smooth floors, but also totally mirrored walls, so when learning tricks you could see yourself, which was well useful because if you lost balance it was easier to see what you were doing wrong, plus it was cool to get your tricks looking better - something I really could do with since whenever I do tricks it looks a bit camp lol, and that is not my intention. But yeah, I know what you mean, I always heel much more slowly and carefully than I need to at my local supermarket, because even though I know I could go faster safely, the security guys might freak out and get all health and safety crazed. I so wish people would just chill and trust me when it comes to heeling, but so many people seem afraid of it just because they don't understand it eh?
Hey, wait a minute, are you saying a kid was actually heeling on ICE? I've tried heeling on snow and ice outside, but never on an indoor ice rink, I guess I always assumed the ice would be slightly damp (being made of water), and so it would mean you would slip over sideways without blades (as I learned happens when you try to heel on a wet half pipe).
I guess if it's cold enough tho, you might be able to heel on an ice-rink, I just assumed it would not be safe due to the slippiness of ice meaning your wheel could slide sidewards, but then maybe I am guilty of the same thing other people are when it comes to heelys: being afraid of it because I don't fully understand how it might work. |
