I painted up a leather purse for my buddy's girlfriend and she has one of those super powerful UV boxes to track dust particles for medical reasons (she stole it from her work) and that badboy would charge in 5 secs and last for hours. |

I hear you can get a mean tan off them too - as long as you don't mind a few side-effects eh? |

I'm not scientifically gifted, but I think it has to do with specific freq's. We use to chill in her room with the box on and it would light up damn near everything in that eerie blacklight glow, but you'de get no ill effects (sunburn) from it. On the other hand... it'd ruin your eyeballs if you looked at it!! It was super powerful.
I use to have to get skin treatments as a kid (UV) and the booth I had to stand in would burn you up in about 30 secs. I was the only kid in middle-school with a fresh island tan!! Even had the 'owl-eyes' from the tanning booth goggles. |

The UV boxes we use in the lab can give you "sun"burn if you don't wear protection. I've burned my lower arms several times trying to cut bands out of a DNA gel. It runs the same risk as getting a sunburn, but it happens WAY faster!

Thanks for the info Slicer. If it's no trouble could you post a link to a pic of the kind of blacklight torch you bought?
I wanna try to get the same kind for portable use since you know that one works ok. |

I FINALLY found a good opportunity to wear these. For the last four months it's been Rumbles weather (and I don't know what I would have done without them!).
Glow-in-the-dark anything works best at sunset. After it charges up, your glowy stuff will always be a little bit brighter than everything else. |
