OK, so this one is one I have been trying to figure out for a while. I am making an Excel spread using 2003 and I want the following to work for me:

I have the months of the year all in Column A (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc). This takes up 12 spaces, A1 - A12. I have how many days of that month in column B1 - B12.

What I want to do is type "Jan" in C1 and make the number appear in D1.

I tried using the following function:

=If(C1=A1,B1,If(C1=A2,B2,""))

I then continued to do all 12 months, however, Excel will only nest up to 7, which does me no good.

So I tried using a VLOOKUP which I can get to work with Jan, but any other month returns FALSE

So if anyone has any idea on how to make it work, I am definately looking for help. I have been scouring the internet for several days trying to find something but most of it is leading me no where. The spread I am making is going to be used by someone with no computer skills what so ever, so I need it to be used with as little maintence as possible (I want it to be in all one cell, not in 2 cells and splitting the IF function)

If I find anything I'll post it, but it doesn't hurt to try

Somewhere, a leap year is crying.

Isn't there some built-in function for this?

Nevermind, I am a failure in the truest sense of the word...

I have the data in AA2:AB13, so I named the range Months and used the following:

=VLOOKUP(AC2,Months,2,FALSE)

Boom, get an #NA until I pound Jan - Dec in AC2

I fail at life, and once again Microsoft has claimed my soul
