We could start a 'Heelys for tots' campaign..... or we could all just donate a pair of heelys to toys for tots.... but I think I might have seen a sign there last year that they didn't want to take heelys..... That might have just been a local thing.

I've been thinking about that recently, but the youngest kid I know is 8 and I've already purchased about 4-5 pairs of heelys for that particular person so any more would probably be more than they'd need/wear
What I mean is, I've been thinking about how the younger you start heeling, the more advantage you may (theoretically) have. So I was thinking about buying some of the smallest possibly heely's (which is, as far as I have seen in stores, UK size 11C (Children's's 11 UK = Childrens 12 US) and maybe even sticking some nice insoles in to make them more like size 9C, and seeing if I happen across some really small-footed person who is keen to learn. . . . basically just because it would be an interesting experiment to see how well someone took to heelys if they had them as early as possible, AND had some good help/teaching. I mean I bet if you found the kids with the right natural skills, they could be incredible heelers in a few years time.
The youngest kid I've seen with heelys (in real life) so far was about 4. . . she'd had them for a couple of weeks but couldn't master the forward glide without gimping. I'd offered to bring my 8 year old friend round to help teach her but since I didn't know the mother that was all I could do to help, and she never did take us up on the offer so that was the end of it. . I hope the kid does stick with it and learn more tho. . . it's sad to see so many heelys on ebay that are "worn once and decided it was too hard". . . if only half of those are truly "worn only once" and not just a sales pitch it's still a great loss. |
