I just noticed something that I found interesting on one of Nat_1996's YT vids:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvAzrShIZdg

It's a "how to 180" vid, but it teaches a completely different method to the Heelys Tricktionary. On the Standard Trictionary 180, if you normally heel forwards with your left foot forwards, when you go backwards, you other foot would be in front, such that you're ready for a simple revert - this way that Nat uses is interesting to me because it finishes in the opposite stance to a Trictionary 180, i.e., you end up heeling backwards in the same stance as you would when heeling forwards

I can 180 the tricktionary way with either leg in front, but I've never learned to do it this way: when I get round to it I think I'm gonna give this method a few weeks practise, to see if it has any benefits over the tricktionary method. Smile

Nah, he does it pretty standard, he just has a switch incorporated with it.

The way I first learned to 180 was to do a quick one-footer on my lead heel; that way really does keep your lead foot in front of your face.

Yeah, I suppose it's similar, just that when I 180, I turn my front foot outwards first, whereas Nat turns the back foot first. . . so in a sense, my 180s have two switches: 1 just after I turn my front foot out, then I rotate, and then another switch after the rotation.

Interesting to hear of your method tho Slice - I guess it depends what other Heelys tricks you can do when you learn 180s: I never learned to crabwalk yet, so Nat's way didn't come natural to me, and I can't footy very well yet, so I might find your original method difficult.

I notice on the video's like the new Heelys Ad that drummer posted, the 180s all look very fluid, even tho they seem to be on a brick paved sidewalk with cracks between the bricks that would be off-putting to me: I wonder if that smoothness of 180ing is just from years of practise, or from practising it a specific way?

And I wonder how FAST it's possible to do a 180? When I'm in big shops with empty aisle's I often have to slow a lot before I feel safe to do a 180 without my pads. Maybe it'll just take me more time and practise?

You know? Its good to STILL see people come up with their own style.

Its not a new trick. But its a different way of doing an old one, def.

Yeah, just goes to show how new heelers can bring stuff to the sport, meaning that there'll always be something more to learn. Smile

i remember when i learned to 180 i couldnt decide which side i wanted to do it to. till i decided that go backwards with the opposite foot in front didnt feel awkward/didnt make my wheels do a harsh click (i had c-clips then, they were on cute small fats X)) doing it the way nats does i lost alot more momentum, speed and i had learned to go backwards with the other foot in front so it was just weird. you have to do it really quickly so that you keep up your momentum and dont put too much strain on your wheel in the case of clear wheels maybe getting airbubbles and on c-clips i know it made the c-clip looser because the wheel clicked more when i walked.
