BTW - Minimalist really is a pair of Salomons and nothing else.

That's how I use to fly when I was in NYC.
For these I'm guessing I might need to buy US? Can't seem to source a pair here yet.

Hey Merlyn, you're about the same size as me so I was wondering what size Salomons you use? Small/Medium etc?

And are these the preferred kind/style? . . .

Thanks Smile

I wear Mediums .. that's my favorite style.
But I want to try the "Pilots" too the version after that one.

Where'd you find it? UK? How much $$ ??

That's great, the ones I got are medium, new and boxed - won them in an online auction for about $4 US, and shipping all the way to UK was only about $8, so I'm a happy bunny.

Let us know how it goes with the Pilots Smile

When I'm flat landing it I only wear a pair of biking gloves for palm protection, ones that have the fingers cut off, and that's it. If I am going to fast and something gets stuck in my wheel well I usually go supermaning through the air into a roll. Seldom am I going slow enough where I actually just face-plant the ground with out having my wheels leave the ground. I'll only wear protection in a skatepark/halfpipe. I think helmets are only for motorcycles, half pipes, and special olympics Wink It's not like an intact skull is any fun with a fractured spine anyway.

LOL, nice image Very Happy

I'm gradually weening myself off of the protection. . . I don't even wear any to footy now since I've gotten used to the way I fall so that I can always catch myself. I think one of the biggest reasons people get put off of heeling at first is something simple like a little fall causing them to think it's not worth the risk, so when I'm teaching new people to heelskate having all the spare pads around is useful Smile

Perhaps I'm heelying for the wrong reasons, but to me half the fun is not knowing if you're going to gourde your melon onto the concrete. The adrenaline rush from flying through the air never gets dull for me 8 ) That's probably because I've learned how to roll fairly well. It's arguably the most important thing you can learn for heelying in the street. My reasoning is, sure if you might be able to do all these tricks, you're not looking very impressive if you fall ungracefully, and at worst, hurt yourself badly. At least if you can learn to roll forward decently you can make that stumble on the crack in the pavement look like it was intentional. I'm not going to lie, not all of my rolls/falls are graceful, but in 95% of the time I'm usually only breaking through the first layer of skin and generally not ripping clothing all while going at least running speed 13mph~. About 5% of the time I totally screw up and end up holding/rubbing my funny bone and or other parts in pain for like 5 minutes. 8 )
