Still trying to practise the footy's - I'm one tiny step closer to doing it. That step being that I now KNOW why I can't footy:

It's because: I can't balance on one heel even without any wheels in! Surprised

So you see, I really wasn't kidding when I said I have terrible balance, and that's why I'm so proud to have learned the tricks I have so far. Smile

So, first, I obviously need to learn to be able to balance on one heel (no wheels) before I can balance on one wheel. Luckily I CAN balance on one foot with my foot flat - just not with it on the heel, so I could be worse. Smile

:O I just tried balancing on my heel with one foot and I cant!!! Ill do like what ur doing maybe thats why I cant learn footy........ (I have good balance usually but I cant do that Sad )

There was actually a conversation about this a while back- I think that some people who CAN do Footy CAN'T balance on their unclad heels.

Yeah, with the wheel out, it's completely different. You're balancing on the brake b/c there's nothing sticking out of the wheel well, and the weight distribution isn't the same at all.

i can balance without wheels on either foot, my weaker one with wheel being the stronger one w/o. honestly though, dont go as far as no wheels just go with taking out your lifted foots wheel and trying to heel. its the only way i learned and focus on going a little at a time at one point just try crossing the sidewalk width wise, then try to sidewalk blocklines thingies then just keep going farther and farther. i found it easier to do it at a wall.

Just posting here to say thanks to everyone for their input on this, and an especially big thanks to PQ for making me the tutorial vid

After practising an hour a day since I started this thread, I can now footy. Dancing

It's not perfect yet, and so far I can only do it relatively slowly on my right leg (the one I usually have in back) but now that I have the basics I have no doubt that given enough practise, I'll get good at it - I always find it's like that with learning tricks - you reach a "breakthru" point after which it just needs refining Smile

Big thanks again,
ME out Smile
