The stock bearings stink like pooh.

I recommend Bones (good) or Rush (really good).

I know, I just cleaned my rush bearings and they work better than any bearings I've ever used! |

I KNOW I posted about doing this at some point- I just can't remember WHERE. Maybe it was just on the SB..
Anyway, Merlyn, why is destroying both sides necessary? You need to annihilate only one. The whole other side can come out when you push out the axle.
You also don't need to pop out the bearings that way- just move them all to one side, move the axle to the other side (after weakening the bearing's shield on the other side enough to do this), and they'll all just pour out. Alternatively, after you take out the bearing spacer, you can just put the wheel back into your shoe and STOMP DOWN HARD a few times until the bearings pop out. (Drummer did this, and they went all over the floor. Boom!)
Also, I have way too much paranoia about my own ham-handedness to take anything resembling a hammer and screwdriver to Megaverts. I carefully used a paring knife.
(Also, the elephant in the room: Are they actually selling these to the public now?) |

Yeah - you can. The reason I do it is because sometimes I find 1 side harder to get the balls out that the other. I quickly check which side is easier but prying up the ball guard.. It ends up saving me time.

On the axle of the Megavert, it has some blue glue on the inside (I actually was able to seperate mine).
Is this in the response of the Coin Axle coming apart like on some Fats models, and is that the reason why they are like Hell to get apart? Or is there some mechanical thing with the threads that meant I ruined my MegaVerts for ever |

IVI4V3R1CK wrote: | On the axle of the Megavert, it has some blue glue on the inside (I actually was able to seperate mine). | Yep, just managed to separate the axles on some megavertz and freespins myself (they needed a good clean) - I believe the glue is a form of loctite thread-locker (it has a similar solvent-like smell anyway) - it is sometimes used in automotive situations to prevent vibration from making threads unscrew during use, so I guess that's why it was put in there.
Weirdly enough, one of my pairs of normal Heelys Rumbles wheels bearings were glued the same way!
Some pairs seem to be glued much tighter than others - so tight in fact that unless you're very careful about your technique, the force required to unscrew them is easilly enough to damage the coin-slots on the end of the axle. The way I undid most of the glued-axles I have was by clamping one end in a very large strong vice and using a HUGE flat-headed screwdriver on the other end. . . if that doesn't work, with care, it is sometimes possible to use the SIDE of the screwdriver end. . . so that you can use the length of the screwdriver as a lever to get additional force on there, but as I said, this can damage the coin-slots on the end of the axle, and the vice grip needs to be so strong that it can mark the other end of the axle unless you use some trick to prevent that. |
