I just bought my 11 year old the Heely's Torch for Christmas. He thought that the wheels would disappear into the heel (somehow) when he didn't want to roll. If I read these posts correctly, the wheels are always down unless you take out the wheels. Is that right? Are there any styles that the wheels can be brought down with a button or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to this.

Welcome to heelychat! There are no styles of heelys with a retractable wheel, so it is either down or it is out. Feel free to post any more questions. Laughing

Actually, there are shoes that work like heelys and have a button the back where you can make the wheels go in and out. They are a lot cheaper than regular heelys. You can usually get them at the mall.

Not legitimate Heelys, no.

To walk on flat Heelys, you take the wheel out and put the heel plug in. Since this is annoying to do and requires that you carry the heel plug around everywhere you go, most of us just don't take the wheel out and have gotten used to just leaving it in.

IHG, trading a pair of Torches for one of those knock-offs is rather like trading your Pentium 4 for a 286...

Yeah. After you wear them with the wheels in for about a month, it feels more akward with the wheels out as opposed to being in.

And don't buy cruddies with the retractable button wheels. Those are terrible. Trust me. I would know. Wink

I wouldn't know, I got mine a month ago and they are all I have worn. Not looking forward to wearing "big kid" shoes again...

I totally agree on the "cruddies", bought a pair and the lasted 17hours!

Go with heely's

Actually, people call them "crappies" but I don't like that word. I'm an innocent little kid. Lol. I just use crud. And if you want to quote a post, in the top right hand corner of the post, it should say quote. Click on that. And welcome to Heelychat!
